Suzie is an LGPC working under the supervision of Whitney Thompson, LCPC. Suzie deeply values developing personal connections. As a counselor, she does this through person-centered counseling, with a focus on building positive relationships with her clients. She hopes to partner with each of her clients on their journey to becoming the best, and healthiest, versions of themselves that they can be.
Suzie is currently a middle school counselor with Carroll County Public Schools. Adolescence is a tumultuous time of change in the life of a student, and Suzie is able to connect and come alongside students to support, challenge, and process. Suzie has experience counseling students of all ages struggling with grief and loss, family issues, anxiety, depression, self-injury, and life changes. In addition to counseling students, Suzie enjoys working with adults who need support as they walk through grief, anxiety, and depression. One of her passions is supporting people through nutrition, alternative, holistic, mindful practices, and healthy lifestyle changes.
Suzie attended Virginia Tech for her undergraduate degree in Family and Child Development with a specialization in Elementary Education. After college, she taught in both private and public schools. She completed her Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD.
Suzie is a mom to six young adults. Through the years of raising her kids alone as a widowed mom and her own traumatic life experiences, she has acquired invaluable skills and experiences that have helped her in her career as a counselor.
